Schepenstraat

The Schepenstraat is located in the beautiful district Blijdorp in the north of Rotterdam. The area around the Statensingel is one of the spots that give the district a green character.

This one really made me laugh. A portable toilet cabin with Van Gogh's "Sunflowers" on it.

MFR stands for Maluku Feyenoord Rotterdam, a Moluccan group of Feyenoord fans.

Middelweg: probably one of the most remote streets in Rotterdam.

In black & white: Rosestraat and 2e Rosestraat

Today I tried something different: I used b&w pictures. I hope you'll like it.

Also I visited both streets because they're extended to each other anyway.

Following pictures show the south side of the Rosestraat and 2e Rosestraat.

Probably children wrote this with street chalk.

A sign from the housing company warning that playing football on the streets is forbidden.

The Fruitport: Marconistraat

Specialized fruit ports on the north shore with air-conditioned halls for the transshipment of perishables. Much of Western Europe are provided with fruits, vegetables and juices through Rotterdam Fruitport.

Gedoe management = hassle management (???)

Just a tiny little detail of the biggest port of Europe.

Katendrechtsestraat

Katendrechtsestraat is located, as the name suggests, in Katendrecht, a place with a lot of history in Rotterdam South.

In the old days these spots were used for advertisements.

Jacobusstraat

The Jacobusstraat is a small street in the city centre. Its located between two shopping streets; the Oude Binnenweg and the Van Oldenbarneveltstraat.

Dick Rijnooy was a jazz musician. A short biography (in Dutch) over here.

Hoogstraat: one of the oldest streets in Rotterdam

The Hoogstraat runs from the Oostplein in a straight line to the Coolsingel. Until 1920 the town hall was located at the Hoogstraat.

Seen from the Hoogstraat; another new building rises in Rotterdam. It seems Rotterdam is never finished.

Hof van Zuid

The Hof van Zuid is a garden, between the Tax Office and the Court. It is a public place, but because it is only accessible from a building, the Hof van Zuid is not open 24 hours a day.

On the stone is a text of former Dutch queen Wilhelmina, in which she said she adds the text "Stronger through struggle" to Rotterdam's coat of arms. Approx 1948.
