Hijkerveld


Hijkerveld is a street in Zuidwijk, a district in the south of Rotterdam. It consists of two parts: one part refurbished with modern houses, and a part that is empty and boarded up. Although you will hear the subway ride along, it is a fairly quiet neighborhood.

Resurrected after the war: Goudsesingel


The Goudsesingel is an old, now filled, girth in Rotterdam.





The history of the Goudsesingel goes back to about 1360 when it was dug as Goudse Vest. The Gouda Vest was filled up between 1886 and 1905. After the damping Goudsesingel got its current name.

Underneath the IJselmondse plein


The IJselmondse plein is actually a highway roundabout. Underneath is a bicycle path. The IJselmondse plein is not on my list and also Google maps doesn't show it.










Flying Dutchmanstraat






The Flying Dutchmanstraat is named after a legendary ghost ship. Wikipedia about the Flying Dutchman.

This part of the river is split in 2. This side of the river is called Nieuwe Maas, the other side is called Hollandse IJsel. And what about those Star Wars kind of office buildings?
