A colorful but very rainy Noordplein
This is the Noordplein (North square). A square in one of my favorite areas: het Oude Noorden (the Old North). From this square you can walk into several streets full with boutiques, galleries and great coffee houses, to name a few.
I ♥ problems?!
I won't make any commercial advertisements but if you like cooking, this is the place you need to be!

Nederhof is a street in the south side of Rotterdam.
Winters in Holland usually mean rain... lots of rain. Its gonna be a sad X-mas this year ;)

Mozartlaan
The Mozartlaan is a bit desolated in the north part of Rotterdam. But I don't think the citizens really mind, considering the big and beautiful houses in this street.
At first I seriously thought this was a little canal between the houses.

Official opening China Light Rotterdam in the Euromast Park
A new
festival came into town. The China Light Rotterdam festival. It has nothing to
do with a particular street really. But because I started this blog first of
all for foreign people to meet my city, I decided to use these
pictures anyway. The pictures came out a bit messy. I did not use the flashlight
on my iPhone, because I don´t really like it. But I think you will get a nice

Nolenstraat
The Nolenstraat is
a street in Blijdorp in the north part of Rotterdam. I was playing football
with friends and some local teenagers. During a short brake I decided to walk
through the street. It is a nice quiet street with nice houses. Unfortunately
that’s about it.

Why a photo blog about Rotterdam?
Because I love my city and I like to walk around in
the streets. So hence: ‘Rotterdam streets’. Everything I encounter, I will
capture on photo: the graffiti, the houses, the lanes, the offices, the
streets, the shapes and the forms. Mostly outdoors, sometimes indoors.
Sometimes people, but never private stuff. And especially the striking details.
Whether it is beautiful or ugly, funny or sad.

Marconiplein
The
Marconiplein is a big square where all kinds of public transport come together;
busses, the subways and trams. It is like the entrance to the west part of
Rotterdam. The square is named after Guglielmo Marconi. In Europe he is best known for his invention of wireless telegraphy in 1896. People also called it the Macaroniplein.

Brightness near the Spiekmanstraat
Today I was
in the Spiekmanstraat for the company I work for. The street itself is gray and
dull. It seemed like the residents are not really interested in making their street a little bit
more colorful. When I walked out, I saw this football field together with the
following graffiti. The field is not another official street or square. So I took the opportunity
as a gift and dropped it

The 2 ´faces´ of the Louis Pregerkade.
Both street
sides of the Louis Pregerkade are very different. On one side there you see the
Binnenhaven and the Entrepothaven, you see the little harbor and the old
Poortgebouw. On the other side you see big new buildings, houses and offices.
Old...
...and new.
Big new buildings, houses and offices.

The Kleiweg
I think the
Kleiweg was recently cleaned. Everywhere I saw spots where once was a sticker.
Not anymore, just a few.
There is a
shop at the Kleiweg which sells all kinds of clothing with pro Rotterdam texts
on it.

This one is
also a mystery to me. It's not really clear but on the red square it says “2+2=”.

De Gekroonde Haringpad
It means the Crowned Herringlane. Funny streetname, don't know what's the story behind it. The lane itself is not that interesting. But at the end of the lane you have a beautiful view at one of the few mills that's left in Delfshaven.

Artistic Gaffelstraat
The
Tussentuin is a temporary garden at the Gaffelstraat. It is landscaped and
planted by residents. They grow their own vegetables. All kinds of activities
are organized in the Tussentuin. For example: theater and music performances, biology
workshops and outdoor diners.

A picture of Laan van Woudestein, coincidentally taken.
I found a list on the internet of the streets of Rotterdam and pasted into a Word document: about 75 pages! But this street was not listed.

A colorful Essenburgsingel

was named in 1921 after the old farm Essenburg which lay on the corner of the Beukelsdijk,
near the current Statentunnel."

In a bar at the Nieuwe Binnenweg...
In this establishment using or dealing drugs is forbidden. When violating these rule, strict measures will follow whereby no police or ambulance will be called !!!!

De Slagerij (The Butchershop) at the Nieuwe Binnenweg is now really closed.
The people who lived there moved out. So after two
years of hanging around, lots of laughing, drinking, partying, cooking and
performances in this beautiful location, an era comes to an end. Below are some older pictures:

PMDS at the Olympiaweg
A PMDS (Pre

match. They gather in or outside the canteen of Sport Club Feyenoord (the amateur
branch of the club) to have a few drinks and talk about the game, their latest away
trips and so on.

Street art at the Statenweg
When walking through the Statenweg I saw this piece of street (or stencil?) art at the back of a traffic sign.
In an empty house at the Beukelsdijk
A friend of mine moved to an other place.
There are some things left behind.
